hey Steve,,

Man,,, I'm hearing crazy shit about the water in Calgary..... you best build yourself a boat....

Maybe with the coffee pot,,, maybe it was the cold water in carafe, putting it on the hot heating element that busted it. That happened to me once....

Although,,, I suspect a coffe-maker manufacturer's conspiracy to sell more coffee makers,,

take care,,,

So the day has finally come to pass, I now work for a special effects & prop company as a fabricator. My first day was today, but I can't go into details due to client confidentiality.
This is awesome because I'm not even done writting all my final exams yet.

Past projects for the company include: 'K-19 the Widowmaker', 'Shanghai Noon', 'Gingersnaps 2 & 3',...

some people are like black holes

1 a black hole is unaware that it is a black hole.

2 all objects near a black hole ... once past the point of no
return can no longer resist the pull of the black hole.

3 the outcome of an object drawn to a black hole is unknown & unpredictable since the known laws of physics are...

So I booked my new tat with Heather McLean at Hide & Seek.check her stuff out
Gotta wait till july, but it's worth the wait.
Sleeving my left forearm.

Picked up Jim Henson's sketchbook for 9 bucks today. When I flipped through it, I was 5 years old again in front of the T.V. on green shag carpet completely engrossed in the muppet show...

Shut up. I freaking love the muppets. I actually was considering becoming a pupeteer for a while... Sigh. I used to watch all the movies (excluding Muppets from Space, grr) when I worked at the video stores... Fun, PG and great to sing along to while working. tongue

The woes of work safety! I always felt funny having to wear a respirator - kinda like Darth Vader.

Thanks for the good wishes.
Break a leg with the show... Bad dress rehearsal, good show?... I suppose if the rehearsal isn't bad, they always make work anyhow. tongue

Keepin' real busy.

I realise that some people have charismatic powers that are
like "jedi mind tricks".

Lightning's head is done.

The moment is where the meaning lies.

Speak not lest thy tongue make thee deaf.

jedi mind tricks?????? hmmm i wish i posessed such powers. that or the ability to vulcan mind meld smile

Charming people , who talk too well, can be intimidating. Or maybe that's just me.

Got to hang some lights yesterday in class... I have an installation piece going up on the 12th... Ug.

Break a leg!! (in general - because people don't say it often enough!) tongue

You know you love practicum, every bloody minute of it... (Or at least when you're in props). I enjoy practicum time, but free labour for shows on top of class work gets ridiculous. Still... there's no business like it.

Existentialism in a set design? That RULES. You'll have to take pictures so I can ooh and aah.

I had the best fuckin' day ever!
Today my propmaking class went to tour the place I plan to work once out of school. It was so kick ass, but I couldn't take pictures for confidentiality reasons.

Where to start.... hmm... well one of the old guys that works there did a little thing called the carbon freeze chamber in a little known movie called...

Sounds awesome!!!
I LOVE meeting cool theatre people... And thinking of all the fun projects!... Getting PAID is even better!!

The Props guy at U of A worked on Hedwig the play... Not nearly as impressive as Star Wars, but it meant a lot to me, since I LOVED that show.
A cosume designer I've worked with also worked with Kubrick and Erte!... Also met the design asst. for Quills and Sleepy Hollow.
How I would KILL to work on shows like that!.... Someday, someday.
