I like really really bad horror movies. It started as a kid because the manager of my local video store let me rent anything I wanted. I mean everything apart from the top shelf porn ones. I don't know if there were any rules against it but he did it anyway. This means that before the age of 10 I had managed to watch a lot of cheap and nasty horror movies that I was attracted to because they always had really lurid VHS covers. I mean 80's styled freaky exploitative covers and usually a few photos at the back with the most gruesome scenes. This mean that I was allowed to watch the Friday the 13th movies and the Nightmare on Elm Street series together with films about Muppets and Dogtanian with the Three Muskahounds. I don't think this was a particualrly good thing to be honest. However there were a lot of movies that I didn't watch because the covers were a bit too splatter freaky even then. Things like 'Basket Case' which I'm watching right now. It's actually a really really awful movie. But it's funny as hell. Basically the premise is there's this guy Duane who keeps carries around a big wicker basket with him and talks to it and throws food into it every once in a while (mainly meat). Gradually we find out that it's this weird Siamese Twin thing called Belial who used to grow on him and was cut out of him at birth. This creature goes a bit nuts and starts ripping the faces of a few people. Now I'm watching the sequels. The first Belial gets a girlfriend. The second he has offspring - Don't ask.
I love stuff like this - Brain Dead, Re-Animator etc... really sick and twisted but kind cheap and crap movies.
