Pirated books

Y'know, it's said that the more a book (or TV show) is pirated, the more likely it is the book will sell more down the road because of word of mouth, but finding two really nicely laid out places where the entire Indestructibles series has been ripped off and posted for free still makes me a little mad. The books have a good following, but it's not so much I don't have to find other sources of income to make a living (I scramble as a medical writer among other things... and when I'm writing the next novel, I'm putting in 18 hours a day because I need to work both day and night jobs). It sucks to see your work pirated.

It's flattering, too, in a way, but it'd be nice if folks who steal the e-book version either buy a nice copy of the print edition later or just recommend their friends buy it. I don't think people quite understand how hard it is on artists when their work is taken for free. We all have to eat and pay our bills too, and while writing novels isn't digging ditches, it's a lot of hours and a lot of hard work to make it all happen. Nothing makes you feel more worthless than seeing the thing you've put thousands of hours into being stolen and distributed like it's nothing at all.

I'm sorry to read that your hard work is being stolen! That's very unfair and hope there are means to put an end to it. I just got the first of The Indestructibles books for my Kindle from Amazon and looking forward to read it.
