Seven hours in the car alone = map out plot for entire book

Had to drive to Vermont for a fine art shoot I was modeling for yesterday. This was a longer drive than I expected. Like, I was an hour from Canada when I got to the studio. This was a whole day shoot sort of thing. (Fantastic photographer, the guy previously sold a photo of my arse in black and white for like, 1,000 dollars a few years back, so it was worth the trip.)

But seven hours in the car, by myself... Last week I was thinking, okay I have three books out in the Indestructibles series. People are already asking about book 4, but I want to write a spinoff book next. Atlantis theme, it'll be fun. But what does my brain do? Nope, plots out the entirety of book 4 while I'm driving.

And not only that... Book 4 is looking huge. Like, big set pieces, major cases of the Feels, callbacks to themes that have built up through the entire series... okay, brain, okay, we'll write book 4 first. Atlantis can be my winter project. Jeez.

You can always write in Portuguese first and translate later. The write editor can really help smooth the transition between languages and it'll be easier to get your imagination down on paper if you write however you're most comfortable.

And I always doubt myself when I write, and I think almost all writers do. The trick is to just keep pushing to be better and to know nothing you ever write will ever be perfect. Once you realize you can't be perfect, then you can just sit back and tell the story you want to write, because it'll be as good as YOU can be, and that's all that matters.
