First experience as a wedding photographer...

So I shot a wedding yesterday. The photography work is really secondary these days--the Indestructibles takes priority in all things--but with Book 3 with the publisher for editing I've got the time to do a bit of photo work and I decided to agree to do a wedding.

First off: Jaysus is a wedding a lot of work.

But secondly, shooting a wedding is incredibly lonely. You're on the outside looking in. This particular wedding was a favor for a friend (I specialize in portrait and fine art work, and really try to avoid event photography, but the bride's a brilliant planner and I trusted her judgement that I was the right guy for the job) and while I did know the bride and groom, they were the only people I knew there, so I was "known"--the guests knew my name before I knew there, for example--but I really was sort of on the periphery.

But now, looking back, I love that I had the chance to do this for them. It was a beautiful event, and a joyous one. It really was wonderful.

But I've got some sort of emotional hangover from the whole thing, too. That shaky loneliness that's been haunting me the past few weeks. Maybe I'm just feeling older or something.
