My publisher has announced that the two Kindle-only shorts, "Gifted" and "The Soloist," are available free to download today through Sunday. Just sayin'. If you like young adult superhero stuff. Not a Kindle reader? There's a free app right there on the page that'll let you read them on any device. Check 'em out, let me know what you think!
"I just love your stuff, you're just so cool, you're just I mean I love your stuff and you're great. You're great. I'm leaving now. Right now. Because it got weird, I made it weird."
A dramatic reading of when I ran into Christopher Uminga at Boston Comic Con today. I'm allegedly a professional. I mean, I have a booth and readers and stuff. I...

At Boston Comic Con with the Indestructibles this weekend and selling well. Meeting tons of great people. The best thing ever, I think, is meeting a lot of people who bought the book when it first came out who stopped by to let me know what they thought.
I don't care what any other writer says. The reason we do this is to be storytellers....

And I swear, I can't ever hear it without it breaking my heart a little bit. I knew including The Parting Glass in my third book would break my heart every single time I hear it, but I'm a nostalgia addict, I guess. It brings me back to Galway and Oranmore, and the last time I was really happy. I'm fairly certain that was the...

Finished up my review of the proof of Book 3 tonight. I'm really proud of this one. I also apparently used a few words way too often, so there's some cleanup to do, but story-wise, I'm feeling really good about it.
Here's where it starts to get real... Book 3 of my superhero series the Indestructibles is up for Kindle pre-orders, which is the moment when everything starts to come together (all the other formats all start to fall around that date the next few days). I think this might be the best book in the series.
It's definitely my favorite cover so far:
And I'm pretty psyched about it. One of my great regrets from Book 2 was being talked into a title I didn't want. This time I stood my ground and got the title I wanted. And so it's going to be:
The Entropy of Everything.
Keep an eye on The Indestructibles site for more details soon!
Anyone going to be hanging around Newbury Street on Wednesday, July 8? I'll be at Trident Booksellers talking about the Indestructibles and small press publishing alongside a few other authors. Should be a a good time.
I found myself having this conversation first thing this morning over an email from a company that shall remain nameless:
Subject line: Dear customer, we've acquired [this company!]
Internal message: We've joined forces with [this company] to bring you...
Me: Let's talk basic English here. Acquired and joined forces are not the same thing. Joined forces is what the Avengers did at the end of...

So I shot a wedding yesterday. The photography work is really secondary these days--the Indestructibles takes priority in all things--but with Book 3 with the publisher for editing I've got the time to do a bit of photo work and I decided to agree to do a wedding.
First off: Jaysus is a wedding a lot of work.
But secondly, shooting a wedding is...

Getting the first few comments in about the early draft of The Indestructibles Book 3. Someone said the book is "important." I knew that dealing with time travel would, for me, be less about action and more about consequence, but I didn't realize how much the way the book deals with mortality and regret would resonate. I hope this is a good sign that it...
