It's difficult, I think. It's particularly difficult when there's confusion between religion, ethnicity, and nationality; as seems to be the case a lot of the time. I sympathise with your desire to avoid wasting the time and (more important) the anger and irritation which often result.

I think I'm probably anti-religious, but I'm realistic enough to see that pushing the point only raises hackles. Generally, I try to stick to reasoned argument.
