It's my first SG-versary today. Yay.

Since it's October, the spookiest month of them all, I want to get kind of a regular spooky something or other going on here. I'll start with a Robert Frost poem about dreaming about the end of the world. I think I've put this up here before, but I've been here a whole year and who can keep track. And besides, we're going to be systematic about it this time around. (Did you know Robert Frost was born in California?)

Once by the Pacific

The shattered water made a misty din.
Great waves looked over others coming in,
And thought of doing something to the shore
That water never did to land before.
The clouds were low and hairy in the skies,
Like locks blown forward in the gleam of eyes.
You could not tell, and yet it looked as if
The shore was lucky in being backed by cliff,
The cliff in being backed by continent;
It looked as if a night of dark intent
Was coming, and not only a night, an age.
Someone had better be prepared for rage.
There would be more than ocean-water broken
Before God's last Put out the Light was spoken.

Also, I want the world to be more like a Tom Waits video. Or I want it to be less like a Tom Waits video. I'm not sure.

In other news, I think I need to smash my computer. I'm seriously addicted to Video Games. Like, they occupy the place in my life that drugs or alcohol occupy in the lives of functional addicts/alcoholics. Problematic.

phantasy:
I never thought there was anything odd about it being called "Australian First Aid" until now. Three people mentioned this! I guess it would be because of our climate and dangerous animals. We have horrible things like the blue ringed octopus, stone fish and the most venomous snakes in the world. Also a lot of people suffer from sun stroke (especially tourists) because they don't realise how harsh our climate is. Tourists often forget to drink enough water. I remember the First Aid teacher telling us that female Japanese tourists were the worst because when trekking through the bush, they refused to duck behind a tree to pee like everyone else (due to cultural differences) and so deliberately wouldn't drink a lot of water and would get really dehydrated.

I am posting this exact answer to all three of you to save time! tongue
