Starting this year, I'll be claiming computer graphics income, and computer costs. Hopefully I can use it to reduce my taxes, but it may have the opposite effect - all depends on how successful I am I suppose. I know I can make a killing if I can get things moving a bit, but I'm torn right now between two paths, and have been for a while. As it is, that's been holding me back rather tightly... and I really need to get moving, as I'm sick of working for other people.

Wish List:

6 Servers. 1 for DNS, 1 for E-mail and Secondary DNS, 2 for web servers, 1 application server to run backend/database stuff, and a backup application server. All with RAID mirroring, hot swapping, and heaps of redundancy, and over a terabyte of storage each (2 actually - have to account for the RAID mirroring). all loaded up in a rack, running OSX. Apple's licencing charges are the least restrictive of any server provider, and I could really use the support. And a battery backup system including a generator good for several days, and 1 hour of battery backup just in case I need to run out and get gas for the generator.

2 static IP addresses on each server, each from a different source (2 broadband ISPs... probably a T1 and a cable backup)

3 workstations. Windows. 1 for me to goof around on, 1 directly networked into the servers for website/server maintainance, and a guest computer for anyone who visits.

1 Workstation. G5.

1 laptop. Apple Powerbook.

There is a simple reason I'll never be rich, or oozing money.

I like gadgets and toys far too much.

I'd also like to build 2 studios - one for music, one for photography.

I suck at both, but why not?
