for today kids, i have put together a little presentation. this has been my home away from home for a while...
these pics are of a restaurant project that we just completed. some of you may recognize the place. this one is in a mall in NY...
this is the space two days after we started framing the walls. framing is cool. it's the first layer in the process...you have to get it right or everything that follows will be messed up.
here is the entry and host/hostess area looking into the dining area. the whole thing was full of funky angles.
this is the entrance to "the galley"...they love those plaques and signs and shit...i wanted to get some shots before they put them up, but things move too fast.
this is the bar. this shot is taken from more or less the same spot as the before shot. the bathrooms are in the back on the right.
here is another shot in the bar area. that drink rail thingy is always a cool project. i make it from scratch. i like doing finish work the best...it's not what i would build for myself, but they come out nice.
this was also a cool project. we had to put these windows in a thick exterior masonry wall. that's why the jambs are so deep. i always get to do the really critical or complicated shit...i love it.
here we have the cook line/pass through. yada yada.
and the cook line...wouldn't mind some of that equipment for my own kitchen. everything back here has to be washable. we don't do much in the kitchen other than build the walls and apply the white "frp" on the walls. sometimes we install the ceiling. good times...
and finally...the exterior facade and windows in the mall hallway. they look into the bar. i kind of like the Frank Lloyd Wright-ness of it. all of that finish material is made out of concrete and other stuff. it's a pretty cool product. it's very durable and more environmentally friendly than other stuff.
so there you have it. not particularly glamorous. it's not building dream homes or high-end shit...or designing and building things, but it keeps me busy for now...it's serving it's purpose...
