Honestly there is not a lot of tech work in Asheville that pays. Asheville Community Theater pays Set Designers, Lighting Designers, and Costume designers, but not enough to live off of. There is also North Carolina Stage Company a professional theatre in Asheville, but they usually hire people they've worked with before. There are some summer places like Parkway playhouse, Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre, or Flat Rock Playhouse, but I don't know if they hire outside people. There is also the Asheville Lyric Opera and the Diana Wortham Theatre but again I don't know if they need people.
