Lately at work, I use the sentance "And what did the voices say?" way more than I ever imagined that I would. When I first started, we had a bunch of kids with emotional problems, some kids with anger issues, and a slew of juvenile delinquents. I was warned that there would be times when the building was chuck full of kids who were nucking futz, I hadn't seen it untill recently though. Over the past week, we have a kid with a "ghost friend" who's mission it is to kill one of our supervisors, a kid who gets the standard "voices that tell me to hurt people", and a kid who's voices just want him to say things that are inappropriate. All in all, I will take the last voices any day. Go ahead guys tell him to say stupid shit, you can all take a time out or go to bed early together.
This morning the one girl informed me that her voices had told her to hurt me, but that she wasn't going to listen to them because she likes me to much to hurt me. BEST COMPLIMENT EVER! Later on when she asked me if we were friends, I responded "FUCK YES WE ARE!!!!!11!!" Well, I didn't say fuck, but the emphasis was there.

so why does a help desk tech need to conversate with the voices? i talk to the voices in kids' heads everyday, but then again, i'm a social worker
how did you get caught in that crossfire?

congrats... its good work. and you get desensitised to the idle threats those voices make over time, so don't worry!
