The local rivers here are in flood,which makes all of the whiteater kayakers and river surfers come out of the wood work and do the happy dance while everyone else looks in horror. Many of us spent all day yesterday staring at this one spot on the river; a wave called "Strike Three", that only comes in every few years. The level had actually gone up too high for it to happen in the morning. While waiting, a funny thing occured to me.
Some people are waiting for their messiah.
My brother is waiting for the birth of his second child.
Others are waiting in traffic, or in line at a fast food "restaurant".
Many are waiting for a better day, of some sort.
Here I am, waiting for a wave. It was my choice; exactly what I wanted to do yesterday.
I am about to head up there again; leaving in a few minutes. Most of the crowd from yesterday is meeting me. The waiting wave surfers include construction workers and painters who were working through the night on their job site to make up for yesterday and get a jump start on today (and will most liklely be working all night tonight in trade for the time off today). A couple of business professionals who are taking "personal days" for this wave. One guy has to be in the office by 1pm, which is 2 hours away. It's light already so I'm sure he is at the wave now, whether it is in or not.
What does this mean? Nothing. And everything. It's a big whiff of the sweet roses of life. A meaningless act that means whatever you want it to.

i think sometimes i get really stubborn and think if smethings worth doing then do it yourself lol. i have neglected my photography in favour of my modelling but its because i find it easier to get taken more seriously as a model than as a photgrapher. the idea was to put photography on the back burner while i concentrate on modelling but sometimes keeping my ideas inside is very frustrating lol. all that suffer for my art shit. really i should get out there and shoot. im taking saturday as my starting point and going from there. x x
