The most wonderful time of the year: A Q&A Story

Hey SG community! How are y'all so far? The year is almost over, so I'm here to bring another amazing Q&A by the legend himself @KUNGFURY and the gorgeous @julha about the most wonderful time of the year 🎶

But first, I wanted to take the time to thank every single one of you who are a part of this community for making it what it is. Through this year I have seen so many overcome huge struggled post pandemic and we have all have a very stressful couple years. You all have been fantastic and amazing to see bounce back to some form of normalcy. I am so proud of all those who made it through, even if just barely! You are Rockstar's and amazing!

Now, let's go to the Q&A!

✨ Fury's Xmas Q&A ✨

1. Who's putting up a Christmas tree?

Although I have a fake tree, I had purchased a few years ago I will not be getting it out again. While a favorite past time as a younger man and child was decorating it and admiring the lights, I do not trust my roommates to treat it with the same respect as I tend to. So, till next year, maybe, it’ll stay in the box where I know it is safe and mostly in one piece.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

2. Who's into holiday decorations indoors and outdoors?

I love decorating and making the place festive! Many of my family members are afraid of heights so putting lights up typically defaulted to me since I had no issues climbing on the house and putting lights everywhere like Clark Griswold! Inside decor I love and admire but sometimes things with smells can give me a headache. Though I appreciate it, my nose and head do not!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

3. Do you have any family traditions during the holidays?

I do! I typically had two, one from family and one from myself. As a kid we would bake Christmas baskets and drop them off to friends and neighbors and we would even drop off some to the local fire department, police station and other emergency departments to show our gratitude to those who served our communities. This year I plan to do a similar thing baking various cookies and treats and taking them to my colleagues at the hospital in which I work. Another tradition I did and have tried to do was go out for a Christmas breakfast and upon my leaving I would randomly select a family that was also at the restaurant and pay for their entire meal including tip without letting them know it was me. For the past few years, I’ve done it and it always made me feel like a sort of secret Santa for some random family enjoying breakfast before their Christmas day plans. It made me feel good to make someone without ever thinking it feel appreciated. ⠀

4. Do you have any holiday charities you donate to or participate in?

Beyond the local Salvation army guy outside the Walmart’s, I do not. I used to donate to the local police and fire departments “boot drive”. Before online orders and scammers people representing those departments would walk around neighborhoods with a fire boot and fill it with money for various charities they would pitch in to for local families in needs. However, I have also donated to the “Toy’s for Tots” charity and “Christmas Unlimited” to assist low-income families give their children a happy Christmas. ⠀⠀

â €

5. Favorite Christmas song?

Hmmmm. I like the classics. “Let it Snow”, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “I’ll be Home for Christmas” always made me feel fuzzy.

⠀⠀

6. Who's shopping online?

I am and have. I’ve already finished and shipped all my Christmas gifts to friends who helped me this year!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

7. I think shopping local and supporting local business owners is important during the holidays. What's your opinion on this?

While I do feel supporting local business is important, I often find myself paying far more for a local product that I can find cheaper online. However, some businesses have moved to online sales, and I feel that is a huge benefit to have today that I would purchase from. ⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀

8. Favorite things to do during the holiday season? Name 3 things

Put up Christmas lights, do lots of baking, seeing other people be happy.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

9. Anyone wait to the last minute to go Christmas shopping?

I used to but I have sense learned my lesson, especially with how long things take to ship anymore!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

10. New Year plans!

I will be working both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. So, probably dealing with a few people who partied too hard haha.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

11. Has anyone ever gotten stressed out over the holidays?

I used to. Now since I’ve taken a step back, I have found if the holiday is too stressful, you’re probably doing too much. Getting together with family and friends shouldn’t feel like a burden. So, since I have had personal struggles with family in the past, I have decided to distance myself from those unnecessary stresses and have had a far more enjoyable time spending them with people I enjoy and don’t make me feel burdened with their presence. But, to each their own.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

12. Do you have a budget, no budget?

I sorta do sorta don’t? I amend my budget as needed but I always prioritize bills first. Gifts are nice, but so is having a house and bill collectors staying off your case.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

13. New Question: what one thing you would change about Christmas (in America).

I feel the need to buy people things to “show” you how much you like them is long past. Seeing people go through financial ruin at the end of the year just to buy people things needs to end. Just because you have expensive gifts do not constitute love. Sometimes if someone just makes you cookies or writes you a handwritten note speaks far more volume than expensive items. You can’t buy love and happiness. You earn them with everyday acts of appreciation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Now I nominate: @olgakulaga @wickedargyle @honeysoleil @twizz @shootermedic and @missnee_xo
