This week, @missy and @rambo want to know about a time I stood up for myself
When it comes to relationships, I don't always know how to pick 'em. I fall in love fast and hard, and I love the crash and fall. I love a guy/gal that shows me adventure, so much sometimes that I fail to see how close I am getting to the flames.
I once dated a guy who was completely obsessed with me, he was my first love. He was popular, a musician and a mega nerd, so he stole my heart right off the bat. But, he consumed me. At first things were great, we always hung out and went on adventures and played video games with his friends; it was perfect. After a while, his friends convinced him it was no longer cool to have a girl around all of the time and that I was too clingy, and so he stopped talking to me. A week into the "anti-girlfriend" holiday he talked to me less and less, and I never saw him outside of the school hallways. I finally texted him asking to meet me so that we could either work it out, or break up, and he said that he'd meet me! I was so happy! I waited and waited and waited and....you guessed it, WAITED! I stood there in the hallway after last class, waiting for him to come pick me up so we could have our talk...and he blew me off. I looked out the window and he was dancing around his car with his friends, laughing. I was so angry! I got out my phone and called him, only to have him tell me he'd see me later. Spoiler alert, I never heard from him after that.
Finally, I had enough. My own boyfriend was playing me, only to get a laugh and impress his friends. I took some advice from my father's girlfriend at the time and decided not to be his little play toy, anymore. I dusted myself off, put on some lipstick and took the situation into my own hands. I walked away.
It took me weeks to finally accept the situation, but I decided not to let another guy treat me like a joke ever again. Like a friend once told me, "You're a rockstar."
