I just had a flashback to childhood. This is about the time every year when in frantic anticipation of Christmas, I would take my tubby little butt into the living room, sit down with the major department store catalogs, and begin circling everything I wanted in the toy section to begin my list to send to Santa.

Nevermind that the fucker NEVER got me any of the shit I asked for. Nevermind that he NEVER even wrote my ass back...just showed up...ate my fucking cookies and took off again...no better than a meth addict would do.

I'd lay on the living room floor for days studying the latest wares put out by Mattel and Parker bros. and dream that I'd finally have a GIJOE aircraft carrier, or a full set of transformers.

Somewhere along the line, the anticipation and excitment of Christmas went away. I still love the lights...I love the smell in the air...I actually love the season and the opportunity it affords me to fly to Denver to see my family.

But Christmas is never like it was when you were a kid...and the moment it changed....is when the movie "the Christmas story" finally makes sense to you...and everyone around you starts calling you Ralphie cause you look just like the fucker. whatever

Hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving...and here's to Christmas...buy me something nice.

I used to pine for that thing too. With the working elevator that could raise and lower small aircraft to the flight deck... That was awesome. A few years later, when I was milking cows for extra money I bought the Cobra Terror Drome for myself. That was really cool too...
Yeah Christmas really changes when you're no longer a kid, but from what I've seen, having a kid of your own to share the experience through makes it even better. Luckily I can go see my college roommate and his kids when the holidays get me down. Most children retain that unpolluted joy... its so nice to just be around that. smile
