Been plugging my Amazon store lately, it's actually kind of a nice little shoppy thing at this point, unfortunately I suspect most people don't just buy the stuff, instead they mark the books on their wishlist and thus I fail to get my commission even when they do buy it. I even had one frustrating case on a forum recently, where some girl said she...

Snuck back onto Yahoo Answer under an alias. Am back to doing what I like best -- translating horrible things into Latin for prospective tattoos! (Why in God's name would you want a tattoo in a language even you don't speak? And why would you think some free online translation software that left half the words in English was anything near accurate?)

No one ever...

I think I shall declare Fanny Hill a failure. I'd be lucky to make back what's spent on it, at this point.

Had an absolutely ghastly dream!

At the start, it was kind of funny, I was (variously) living in or housesitting an old house, or maybe like an apartment building. It looked a lot like part of the house a childhood friend used to live in. Apparently, someone online (I think from the old Brunching Shuttlecocks site) had rented this room years before me, and wrote...

Saw an Unidentified Flying Object this evening, at least until we identified it.

What kind of balloon? Weather? Hot air?
aristophanes:
Hot air I think, though it could have been a weather balloon.

Hey, Pagan Bookworm reviewed my book, and liked it!
amarena:
ha! I had thought of that, but I just needed an excuse to put some 'tallica up there. (I suppose I could've put Turn the Page or Loverman up there...but still! lol)

And when it comes to you "You Really Got Me" covers, I'm a sucker for the cheesey romp that is the Van Halen version!

Nervous. Actually spent MONEY on an ad campaign for Fanny Hill. I only need to sell 7 copies to break even, which is why it seemed a reasonable move. It's supposed to get distributed to 300,000 semi-targeted people so it doesn't seem unlikely 7 of them would want to buy editions.

Incidentally, I have a suspicion the book Memoirs of a Geisha is a knockoff...

Well, I have basically had to kill the functionality of the wholesale page I set up for selling books. I am not having an easy time at all selling them wholesale -- Createspace can't accept a 50% coupon for more than 1 book so I can't send people to buy directly from them, the publisher: and Paypal can't comprehend that only some items need to...

I cannot stand Craigslist any longer. I never have successfully hired or sold anything through those guys; either no one pays any attention to my adverts at all, or only Nigerian scammers pay attention to them; or they get the attention of someone who seems to be just flagging whatever random crap they see. Recently I posted an ad looking to hire bloggers to post...

Saw an ad for the Disney/Zemeckis "Christmas Carol" last night. The animation looks absolutely ghastly. It's like they modeled it on one of those cheap prints you find decorating a McDonalds, but added some 1996 level CGI.

it also showed how Hollywood just doesn't understand how to market movies anymore. It's "A Christmas Carol." Admittedly it's a well-known plot; but does that honestly mean loud...
