A couple days ago, the day came: I realized I could no longer see the TV from the couch. My vision's been on the decline some years but since reading from far away (like from a menu posted behind a counter) was pretty much the only time it ever became an issue, it wasn't really worth doing anything about. I should add, I really hate...

Hmm. My joke is I could be three artists.

With my glasses, a realist.

Without them...

Looking through my left eye, an impressionist.

Looking through my right eye, an abstract artist. tongue

Hmmm. I am mentally picturing you with glasses, and some styles would quite suit you, *I* think.

Contacts aren't an option?

BTW, the vinegar didn't work. :\

Well, instead of being good and getting to work on that Sullivan translation I started a few years back and which was my New Years Resolution to finish, I seem to be translating instead Harlequin, The Emperor of the Moon from French.

So far no sales of anything from the commedia dell'arte site but at least it seems to be keeping me busy.

Was trying to make some illustrations of my book covers to put in my new book as a sort of advertisement -- the publisher has trouble with the color gray so I decided some line drawings would be best. The pencil sketches, done by tracing picture of the books from the computer screen, looked so odd I almost didn't want to ink them.

And SG...

One of those things that manages to be both stupid and cool: The Sweeney Todd Shaving Kit
starnite_iv:
I think it would be cooler without the fake blood on the handle personally. If i actually used it to shave, i think it would confuse me into thinking I cut myself. Again.
starnite_iv:
I can see thatif you are getting a display piece, i generally tend to look at the usability aspect of things like that, which is why all my fancy tea cups and star trek glasses are in regular use these days.

I keep wanting to buy books, even though I am lately so busy making books I'm unlikely in the near future to read any of them. Recent purchases include:

Little Dorrit, by Charles Dickens
The Thames Torso Murders by R. Michael Gordon
Magical Rituals for Money by Donna Rosa
Theatre Complet by Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais

I think some it's partially some of...

Ohhh, that is really cool that you publish books. I always wanted to write a book and publish it.

One book down, another to go. I've got the files all ready for my new commedia dell'arte book, and it looks like I'm finally getting that multi-year project of the Marriage a-la-Mode done as well.

Marriage a-la-Mode is an old play by John Dryden, which I liked quite well on first reading it. And like many plays of the era, it has songs noted within...

Yeah, the shadowing on the pearls is a little off, but I only noticed after you gave it away. Good job!

You are prolific. I'm not sure when I journal next, but will keep your request for linking in mind when I do.

What is up with Craigslist? Every time I make a new account it gets suspended! I don't even post anything weird, I think -- most recently I was looking for someone to transcribe some old sheet music, but I guess someone must have taken that for spam and flagged it?

BTW, anyone want $20 to transcribe some old sheet music?

Canceling the production of Gentlemen Prefer Wigs has left me with an extra few hundred dollars that I'd been keeping for the movie budget. I came across the site Recollections that sells historical looking clothing of the type I like to wear, and figured I could maybe buy something from them, as one of my summertime outfits, the "old lady dress" as my sister calls...

Good for you in designing that lovely sari inspired dress for yourself. That Recollections site was fun to peruse. I have an old 1910/20s parasol from my grandmothers old collection which I love. It has a delicately carved bamboo handle and black silk and lace so old the color has faded and the fabrics is too delicate to open. Perhaps one day I will have it restored. It is nothing fancy but it is quietly attractive and hold memories for me. My grandmother was some special lady.

Funny how quickly a mood can change. Last night I was feeling pretty happy -- business was pretty good, I was thinking how I had more money than expected (especially since I'm not going to do the movie) and could buy some things, my Sweeney Todd book was sent in, and everything seemed well.

I think things took the negative turn when I got a...

Waiting in these type of situations is the worst, especially when you put so much effort and care into it from your end.

Received my lovely Marie Antoinettes today and couldn't be happier. Thank you so much. They're every bit as lovely as I'd hoped. Is it okay if I mention them in a journal down the road?
