Client finally payed! Yaaay!
And I also finished translating the first act of Beaumarchais' Eugenie. Yaaay!
But there are spooky-ass noises coming from the walls and ceiling and I think it may be that we have a rat in the house. Booo!

I hate it when I seem to be more concerned about someone's spellcast than they are... got a client who contacted me SIX WEEKS AGO about casting a spell for her, she's sent me several panicky emails since, but still hasn't actually just paid me to cast her bloody spell. I've even suggested a few cheaper alternatives, thinking money might be the issue, but she...

I think you may have gotten a dud. I've only had to clean my display once this whole year, and it went back to being all crystal clear. Is it a laptop?
aristophanes:
Yeah, a laptop. Windex just makes it more streaky.

Amazon's got two of my books on sale right now -- Fanny Hill and Conjure Cookbook!

As to my other other translation project, I'm thinking I won't apply for that grant this year. The odds I'll get chosen look more and more slim the more research I do, and despite people's insistence "What have you got to lose?" the answer to that is $25+...

I actually ate 3 meals yesterday -- weird!

Breakfast: Subway western egg and cheese muffin with jalapeos.
Lunch: Taco Bell volcano taco.
Dinner: spicy California roll tray from Trader Joe's.

This is also interestingly indicative that I've developed a fondness for spicy food.

Other than eating, here's what else I have been about: --

Translating the untranslated plays of de Beaumarchais (specifically, at the moment,...

i thought the volcano taco was great for not being afraid to be spicy as advertised, but the latest round of subway buffalo chicken subs very disappointing in that regard.
adding jalapeos is just not the same as a decent buffalo sauce.

Reorganizing my CD collection. Does P.D.Q. Bach belong with the classical music?
grayness:
It's your collection... how do you think of him?

The (fictional) dating site for those who admit they're not up to standards for any normal dating site. I think my favorite piece of the questionairre is --

3. Whats your idea of a great way to spend a Saturday morning?
(a) Grabbing some coffee, reading the paper, and catching a movie, all while sitting on the toilet.
(b) Walking hand in hand through...

Saw two movies today which I had not seen before: Caddyshack and (the original) Death At a Funeral. I actually didn't see what all the fuss was about Caddyshack. Death at a Funeral was pretty good, though.

And good news! I sold a copy of La Commedia Inglese, so that makes me almost like a real playwright. Though I suppose the thing still was...

My interest in Jack the Ripper and commedia dell'arte seems to have combined during the night into me dreaming a scenario, which I could only call "Harlequin Ripper." London, 1888: Harlequin writes Columbine a love letter in red ink, full of such poor spelling and crazy metaphors, it gets intercepted and mistaken for one of those "From Hell" letters from Jack the Ripper; and Harlequin's...

Ughh... you'd think with so many magic-shop "customers" who write to me, saying they want to buy my services, then vanish -- that I should have plenty of free time to get translations done! Somehow that's not the case! In fact they're just piling up faster than I can do anything.

Things I need to translate:

Harlequin, Emperor of the Moon
Complete plays of Pierre...

My older sister, her two kids (8 and 15) and her boyfriend came out for a few days to visit. The boyfriend in particular we weren't sure what to make of, as the family previously only knew him via his Facebook postings, and those have a tendency to make him seem like he suffers from borderline retardation and/or is some kind of wifebeating hick. In...
