Made a pair of shoes using the method in the Mary Whales Loomis book. They are glued instead of nailed, so they have a few problems with heel-floppiness on uneven surfaces (which is like everything in New Mexico.) Held up through a relatively long walk, though.

Saturday was the Grounds committee meeting for the graveyard. I'm the chair of the committee. I never saw the graveyard in its heyday but it apparently once had grass in it, and some donor offered a few thousand dollars for the purpose of planting grass so it would have it again. However, the committee examined the place, and based on past experience (other plantings haven't gone well) and present circumstances (the sprinkler systems were removed years ago, and Santa Fe is in perpetual drought; even if we could water it wouldn't be environmentally friendly to do so) we decided it was inadvisable to plant any grass, and so have to come up with ways to beautify the park doing something else. One notion we all seemed to like was to level out the headstones. We're hoping the donor might be willing to allow the money to be used for something else relating to the improvement of the place.
On the visit, I found another bone piece in the yard kicked up by the prairie dogs, and a bunch of coffin pieces that were brought up likewise, which I brought home with me.
