Took about a week but I finally have time to update about King Tut! It wasn't too bad, though since it was the last 2 days of the exhibit, the place was PACKED, and consequently one couldn't always see the items as clearly or stay looking at them for as long as one might have liked. Since I was sick I brought lots of kleenex along and was blowing my nose constantly.
Some of the more interesting things we saw there were Tut's little tiny chair that looked like something you'd make for a 5 year old (he was apparently 5'6, which was tall at the time, but maybe they made his furniture to exactly his size or something.) Also his giant earrings that looked like they had to be really uncomfortable, his golden sandals and gold finger and toe covers from his mummy (I thought it was interesting that the finger covers were about the same size as my fingers, but the toe covers were almost as long as the finger covers.) Also saw a coffin box for a cat, a gold funeral mask from a different mummy (Tut's masks are apparently too fragile to travel), the miniature mummy-case used as a canopic jar for Tut's stomach, and a statue of the god Soped whom I thought to be very cute (though when I looked up info about him he's actually supposed to be a fierce sort of entity. But the statue there was a cute little gold statue of Soped as a seated hawk, wearing a crown of feathers and with a flag on his back, and an inscription that said something along the lines of "Soped loves Tutankhamun.")
After the museum we went to a place called The Brown Palace and had some drinks. My dad wanted to go there because he knew it was a really beautiful hotel (he was reluctant to give all of the details, but apparently he found out about the place in the 70s when he and his friends were "broke, filthy hippies" and had apparently sold or given drugs to someone who was staying there, who got them a room there too as part of the trade.) Then we went over to a place called Earl's for dinner, the food was okay but it was an interesting atmosphere there, and very packed.
Then we went back to the hotel and I wasn't able to sleep much because I had to get up and blow my nose every 6 minutes, plus I was freezing. It snowed overnight, so when we went to head back home the next morning the car's windshield kept icing over. But we finally got home and it was all good.

And since then I've been trying to get my commedia dell'arte show together. I got my sister Julia to agree to play Arlecchino (she agreed once I told her it's the smallest part in the show, with only 1 scene) and I still need to find one more actor. We are already on the Commedia dell'Arte Day Events Map, though.

grayness:
I like that the phrase "was sick" is used because it implies you may be better by this point. smile Glad you're on the map. Compound fracture of the femur to you! wink

Sounds like it was a decent expedition. Hope you really are feeling better.
