I'm trying to uncover the origins of Four Thieves Vinegar, and a few sources claim there's some records of the "parliament of Toulouse" that confirm the story about four thieves during the plague giving up their recipe in exchange for a lighter punishment. I can't find much of a lead on this, and wonder if it might be that Sweeney Todd thing again where some historian decided to make something up for whatever reason. The supposed incident would have been in Toulouse in the 17th century (somewhere between 1620 and 1660 I think) assuming it is at all true. Is there something like the Old Bailey online records for Toulouse?

I could be wrong, but I think your query might be a bit esoteric for this site. Just by stepping out of this year, much less stepping several centuries back, you've lost most of your audience. Yes, that's right, I took the risk and successfully sounded like a pretentious ass. Hopefully I am wrong and someone will be able to help you.
