Woo! I found a leather-bound Complete Works of William Shakespeare for $2.40 in a used book store today!

I also located the grave of Julie Staab. I once stayed in the hotel room she's supposed to haunt.

Wow, I need to head over there. Complete Marlowe, huh? That is a lovely thing.

And I adore Japanese Noh plays, expecially Mugen No ones.

Nice find at the book store! That's awesome!

Okay, I'll lead with buttsex and end with stories of my old girlfriends while crying profusely. Wish me luck! I think she may be the one.

Unnhh... my teeth... stupid dentist LIED TO ME! He told me when I was a teenager that my wisdom teeth had already come in! But no, they are coming in now, underneath my existing teeth. This means all my teeth are shifting around, and my gums are bleeding and aching constantly. I need to go to a dentist who can fix this (maybe not that...

I'm still dealing with wisdom teeth. Last month, it was hard to open my mouth much wider than a crack. It's a great way to lose weight.

Incidentally, I hope you become an SG right quick. First of all, your set is awesome. You look like you belong on a greek urn. Second, I'd love to have another SG in my cocktail lounge group!
aristophanes:
Hah, you think I need to lose any weight? Just yesterday I was deleting "anorexic" tags from my set. There seems to be some weight right about 115, and if women deviate more than about 1 pound from this weight, you are either fat or anorexic depending which way you go. For god's sake, according to my panties I am a size 5.

As for my mouth -- I had the jaw sticking together trouble in middle school (maybe I did have magic wisdom teeth that came in, disappeared and are now coming in again?) Luckily, recipes from your cocktail lounge are helping me deal with the discomfort even as we speak.

I am going to blog in really bad Old French, because I do not practice enough Old French, thus I am bad at it. If anyone chances to speak Old French by all means correct my errors.

Took 2 words before I had to start adapting things from Latin and Mod. French.

I often think I'd like to write for Disney... about a year ago, I had a great idea to write a film and pitch it to Disney, based on this obscure fairytale called The Frog Princess... I googled online to see how I'd go about contacting Disney for this, and guess what film I found they had decided to make on their own accord? The Frog Princess.

I have another idea for a fairytale to pitch to them, I even see how to make it a functional script and everything. Doubtless I will learn in a week or two they decided on their own to do that one, as well. But, I actually need to figure out a way to contact them and bully them into looking at my stuff -- I have no agent to submit for me (agents hate my stuff, Bollywoods and killer microwaves and David Garrick just don't appeal to the masses.)

That is weird you'd keep running over nails in the road without construction nearby... malicious kids in the neighborhood maybe?
3am:
Don't give up on getting your story noticed! Maybe get it published as a children's book? I'm sure you'll think of something!

Rowdy kids? Maybe.... Time to start sleeping in my car.

I have made some progress in my search for the mystery of the... mystery, in Diva. That joke about the ID card (see 2 posts back if you missed it, from the 14th.)

While I don't know what the exact joke was, I think I have determined the subject and why it's hard to translate in English. It centers around the word "carte" which can...

You solved the mystery!!! Interesting!

BTW, I just received "The Ugly Duckling." It's a good story that almost brought a tear to my eye (don't laugh!).
aristophanes:
Well, almost. I do hope to find out what the exact thing was he said -- that I still don't know.

Don't worry about crying over Andersen... a couple years ago I decided to read the original version of The Little Mermaid online and almost ruined my keyboard it was so wet from my crying all over it.

Oh, man! I just read the funniest thing. I have to give a bit of background first: I have but a slight interest in fanfiction, but a great interest in Godawful Fan Fiction. There is a website by that name which I frequent, and have been a member of for many years.

Today I spotted a conversation in the Forums where people named the worst...

My favorite movie, Diva, just had a 25th anniversary re-release! Though if my math is correct, this should be year 27 but... whatever. Just got back from seeing it in the theater for the first time ever. I was not able to see it in its original theatrical run due mainly to not having been born yet.
The first time I saw it, I...

Ha ha! I'm from Texas and I took French. "Mercy buckets" and "gee-my-apples Francois, in-chant-ay" sent our poor teacher into fits.

I'll have to check that movie out. It sounds pretty good, and if you love "Nightmare," that's an indication of great taste in my book. wink

The knee continues to be an annoyance. Thank you for your kind comment about it. If Steve Irwin could run around like he did after surgeries, that gives me hope. smile
3am:
I wish I could help you with the joke, but I don't speak French. It's interesting that the translations vary to that degree.

Your take on the duckling story is much better than the one I concocted in my twisted head. I placed an order for it from Amazon. Did you know that in the original story the duckling almost dies?

That prince and princess story is great! There's a moral there that everyone should learn.

grayness:
Probably, but still an interesting story, nonetheless. The distance (mainly in time) shades it more from drama to comedy in any event. (Although I'm sorry you had to endure the incident in the first place)

I suppose in this instance, projectile/forceful vomiting would be or was a good thing and helped you clear the car.
aristophanes:
Oh it was a funny story within 10 minutes of its happening (soon as I got home and got that corset off.) However, not nearly as funny as the story about my friend's dog dying on my lap -- that one hit the point of being so awful it was funny even as it occurred.

My 501 Latin Verbs book arrived yesterday, and I am so happy! Now I can translate a sentence in about 5 minutes, instead of 15-30 minutes as before -- for example I once practiced by translating the prologue from 'Samurai Jack' into Latin and it took 2 days. Now, if I could just find some agreement as to the declension of the word "Deus" I'd...

Went ahead and bought 501 Latin Verbs Fully Conjugated today, from Amazon. It will make my life so much easier. It is amazingly difficult to try to translate "Probably" into Latin. Forsit or Fortasse seem to be the options, I have no clue how to conjugate those. Maybe the book will have one of them. It also might help me be able to use words...

suntlacrimae:
You don't conjugate adverbs. "Fortasse" is correct as is. "Forsit" is a contraction of "fore" and "sit," and is pretty rare. It's so archaic that using it could almost be regarded as a mistake. I used to teach Latin and have a lot of experience in composition . . . feel free to drop by my journal if you have any questions or want to share some nerdy classical language conversation. smile

If you were a hot dog, and you were starving, would you eat yourself?
aristophanes:
On the one hand it would be counterproductive in terms of both life expectancy and in alleviating the discomfort. On the other, eating yourself would make it all end faster. Hmm...

That Sweeney Todd film has been, for reasons both good or bad, the talk of the household ever since we went to see it, and has since brought about many jokes and speculations as to where our favorite resaurant gets such cheap salmon.

Now, I had been familiar with the "real" story of Sweeney Todd, hanged 1802, for some time. But today I was feeling...

Apparently those ruins are part of the Musee National du Moyen Age now. Funny that that would the the reason for 200 years of Sweeney Todd legends.

What I also find interesting is the element of unknowing cannibalism. & the notion that, if we were only to innocently taste human flesh, we would find our own to be the most delicious of all meat. If we stop to think about it, it's an odd sort of narcissistic notion. & it seems deeply rooted in us to believe this. & many do believe these legends with profoundly ghoulish persistence.

The fantasy is also reenacted in Fried Green Tomatoes.

I wonder what is the Greek for "the most delicious"?

In honor of that godawful fucking chipmunk's movie, I give you -

The Chipmunks Singing "Queen of the Night!"

Seriously my absolute favorite aria bar none--the altitude reached here does get a bit dizzying--& the chipmunk version--cute & funny. Brilliant.

Tyropantinam worked. Flan tilted to the slightly sharp rather than the sweet. Good with espresso (not so authentically ancient Roman, but a delight nonetheless).
