So this is like that moment at a party where you walk in and everyone else has been there for hours and they all know each other from high school and they all expect you to introduce yourself but you just look around like you're expecting to see someone you know so you don't have to talk to anyone new until you find out whether or not they're all nice people or whether they're all secretly judging you for wearing last season's jeans and a Coldplay t-shirt that isn't quite ironic enough to pass muster and you start panicking a little because all you really wanted was to stay at home playing computer games and eating nachos but you seem suddenly to be the centre of attention and oh god they can see you sweating and know something is up so you start babbling to the person nearest to you who doesn't understand you because you're mumbling so you make your excuses and run to the kitchen and grab a beer and down it waaaaay too fast and end up sitting there trying not to look like you're about to throw up so you can just melt into the background until you see someone you'd never otherwise speak to and rush over and start asking them about their mother who died but you forgot so things get awkward and then you give up and go home and think to yourself that you probably shouldn't worry so much about what people think about you.
Am I on the right track here? So, um, hi.
