The number of ice cubes that could possibly exist in this house simply doesn't match up to my need to crunch them to tiny slivers.

Wow, I'm not subtle. I'm also getting sick, I think - darn housemates with strep throat. I blame it all on them.

I need some partying. Either that or a nice long bath. Mmmmmmm.....yes, preciouss. Nice bathses.

Ooh. Apparently Wednesdays are for poetry. I don't write, but I appreciate muchly. Selections:

(Dylan Thomas)
The force that through the green fuse drives the flower
Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees
Is my destroyer.
And I am dumb to tell the crooked rose
My youth is bent by the same wintry fever.

The force that drives the water through the rocks
Drives my red blood; that dries the mouthing streams
Turns mine to wax.
And I am dumb to mouth unto my veins
How at the mountain spring the same mouth sucks.

The hand that whirls the water in the pool
Stirs the quicksand; that ropes the blowing wind
Hauls my shroud sail.
And I am dumb to tell the hanging man
How of my clay is made the hangman's lime.

The lips of time leech to the fountain head;
Love drips and gathers, but the fallen blood
Shall calm her sores.
And I am dumb to tell a weather's wind
How time has ticked a heaven round the stars.

And I am dumb to tell the lover's tomb
How at my sheet goes the same crooked worm.

(windhover - hopkins)
I caught this morning morning's minion, kingdom
of daylight's dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate's heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird, -- the achieve of, the mastery of the thing!

Brute beauty and valour and act, oh, air, pride, plume, here
Buckle! AND the fire that breaks from thee then, a billion
Times told lovelier, more dangerous, o my chevalier!
No wonder of it: sheer plod makes plough down sillion
Shine, and blue-bleak embers, ah my dear,
Fall, gall themselves, and gash gold-vermilion.

reinhardt:
good poems smile i vote for bath, but that's probably just because my bathtub is doing weird random regurgitation of dirty water type things now, so i'm too scared to use it. you have a bath and i'll live vicariously through you smile

and American Splendor was really good you should definitely see it!
