Life does not update itself on a regular basis. Have you ever noticed that? My life used to be boring, I never had anything to write about, but I need not wait for life's updates, I should make them myself.
So I've dropped half my classes.. I'm only taking the digital class and studio class now. They are the only ones I really need anyways. I'm going to spend more time working on my photography.
For studio we have to prepare a presentation on a famous studio photographer and their work. So I've been looking through the list he gave us to start with and I have been truly inspired. The old female photographers are wonderful. I love the concepts they deal with, be they Ruth Bernhard, Cindy Sherman, or Joyce Tennison. Female authors and artists have always been my favorites. But now I have a true favorite. Someone I am truly inspired by.
Duane Michals... A he for once. His work, his philosophy, his writings... he really makes me think about why I am a photographer, about what inspires my work. And to be truthful, my artwork is not inspired at all. There is nothing behind it. I just take pictures. This realization saddens me. I need a purpose, I need a real reason. My best pieces, I believe are the ones where I am outside, capturing the many facets of nature. Or my pieces that are abstract. I really want to show the world how I see things. How I percieve life. But the photos I take never seem to get that through. Once I take them my feelings leave the image, But I'll have a lot more time to work on my art this semester.
