I went to Riverbanks Zoo yesterday. Before that it had been about 14 years since I've been to one. I had a headache for most of the day, so I left after about an hour and a half, but I still managed to have a good time without any major dissapointments. I should have taken a camera (I left both my disposable one and my regular one at home, since I didn't think I was going yesterday). I did see a pretty good bit of everything that wanted to be seen:

2 Lionesses
1 Tiger (the cubs were hiding, pitty-I really came to see them, but they were Siberian (yes, Siberian) tigers and I didn't blame them for keeping out of the heat).
2 Giraffe (one peed for about a minute)
1 Zebra
1 Alligator
5 Baboons
2 Turtles (One's head was bigger than mine)
Various snakes and lizards
2 Narcoleptic Koala
2 Hyena
2 Grizzly Bears
8 Lorrie, Lorakeet
3 Female African Elephants
2 Hyenas
2 Ibex
3 Spider Monkey (they lope around like gangly humans, weird)
1 Crazy-ass tram driver

The lionesses were very friendly with each other, the Ibex were indifferent, the tiger was sleepy, and the bears stared at us and yawned. Other's were quite lively. I got to walk through the Lorakeet area with a cup of nectar so they could drink from it-I was kind of nervous, their claws tickled when one climbed up by neck and onto my boob and the other walked up and down my arm. All was good until the birds became confrontational over the goodies...then I made for the exit.

Taking the tram into the Zoo was a bit of an adventure in itself. The driver kept thinking people were waving their arms and legs out of the sides of the contraption, and abruptly stopped every 30 seconds to castigate the passengers. I saw nothing. Once she swerved the car around so fast that the end I was on went of the path and almost into the woods...pscho-ass bitch. I got over it though. Going over the river twice was great, it was so beautiful..the water rushing sporadically over the spotted grey rock and the islands filled with trees were very pleasant to look at.
