Long story short: I'd been looking for a loan to finance my study abroad trip. I knew I was going to have to take out a loan, even with a scholarship, but I knew that it would definitely be worth it. The thing is, SIT extended their deadline so it took me until the middle of April to get a reply on my aid amount.

Well for the past month I'd been looking in earnest, either being denied since my co-signer had defaulted on a loan or because I was still a student (although with damn excellent credit) and made under $1000/month. I had been told by the financial aid at my school that they did not grant financial aid for summer study abroad, but after talking to the director of study abroad they told me that what I had been previously told was load of bull and that they could issue a check from my student account to SIT. Hello SallieMae.

So today, on the cut-off deadline for payment, after several panic attacks, my college authorized the loan. Good thing too, since I leave on Sunday.

I've also been looking at trips to San Francisco and Madison, Wisconsin. I really want to actually celebrate my birthday on my birthday this year (21) and ahve wanted to go to SF for a year and was really upset when I couldn't go last year. I also want to scope out the University of Wisconsin and am curious about Montreal . I've also become interested in Emerson for graduate school. I have found a multiple ticket from travelocity for around $570, but it doesn't include hotel prices. Perhaps the over amount from my loan will help me cover it.

I wanted to take some time off from school to do an internship, but you know that pesky thing about being a diabetic and needing insurance is putting a cramp in my plans...unless I can find a paid internship that grants insurance..... surreal

And....I'm off.

Lucky you, being able to study in THREE countries instead of just one! How'd you swing that?

SF is amazing! You'd love it. Great food, fun shops, perfect weather, cool people.

I almost went to school in Madison and may go to grad school in Montreal. We must have similar taste in cities.

I'm glad everything worked out for you. It sounds terribly stressful. Have a great time studying abroad!

(I studied a broad in college. She gave me an A+. (Boo! Bad joke. Sorry.))
