Nigeria to Provide Free Anti-AIDS Medications

This is the best thing I've seen today, including presents. I used to be so excited on Christmas Eve. I used to sneak into the living room of my grand mother's house with my cousin early in the morning. We knew we would get in trouble if we unwrapped any so we just stared at them and hopped from foot to foot. Today, I felt nothing. The article above affected me the most (in a good way). Such a contrast from my materialist-oreinted family (mother's side).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not pissed that we bought presents, just the spirit in which they are given. I swear its a fucking competition between my mother, grandmother, and aunts. While shopping for presents on the 23rd, I picked up a game for my cousin (he's a pretty sincere gamer) for his Game Cube. My mother remarked that I only thought it was an expensive gift "because I was a college student." She remarked that another gift I had chosen was "pedestrian".

I don't get gifts for people so I can brag about how expensive they are, I get things that I think people will like. I can name the price of everthing in my aunt's house, since she brags about how great a bargain everything is.

I did enjoy my cousin's company though, and watching The Return of the King. He's a really nice guy.
_biblia_:
my grandmother insists that everyone gets an equal number of gifts. that's always irked me. i wonder if she gave me something because she wanted me to have it, or because she needed a fourth gift. . . .

glad you had some good times though. kiss
