I went to see The Dixie Pistols Burlesque show Friday night at My Sister's Room. It's the first time I've ever been to a club, much less a lesbian one. I almost didn't go since some tropical storm made landfall and Georiga (briefly) got some of the brunt of it. I thought I'd have problems with my ID since I look so young , but the person checking ID's just looked at mine and let me in. There was a bar and a dance floor, but the show was held outside in a covred performance area.
It was the first time I had gone to anything like it and I loved it! The performers were Ms. Vagina Jenkins, Lydia Venom, Bernie Brazen, Wild Ivy, Cal Boyd, K.C., and a host of "fagotrons". Ms. Jenkins did a Pam Grier inspired set, and another one that made good use of a see through raincoat. Lydia Venom was exceptional-I didn't know pasties, pointe shoes, and Bjork could mix so well! I did prefer the drag kings over the "fagotrons", they pretty much just jumped around spastically on stage.
I just got the Six Feet Under Vol. 2 Soundtrack, and I've been listening to it almost non-stop for the past couple of days. It's soooooo good.
