Chicago Times

Last week, Brian and I went to Chicago for a couple of days. We really didn't know anyone there, but had killer tickets. 2 round trip tickets for $300!! there was no way we could pass that up.

Getting there was quite uneventful, we got to sit on the emergency row (yes we have to assist people in the case of an emergency but it's worth it for the leg room). As soon as we arrived to Chicago we had to become familiarized with the mass transit system, locally known as the CTA (chicago transit authority), on the first trip alone we saved money. I do wish San Diego had the kick ass system Chicago had, we could go absolutely anywhere.

Here is a list of the activities we did:

Food: Had authentic deep dish pizza, chicago dogs, and beef sandwiches, and Dunkin Donuts (man I'm going to miss them).... biggrin
Downtown Chicago: Sears Tower
Buckingham Fountain: disapointing since it is shut off during winter..sigh.
Field Museum: got in for free...on a non-free day...oh yeah
Drake Hotel: had tea service in the bar, since there is construction going on in the Palm room where they usually serve it. Possibly my favorite event out of the entire trip. Had itty bitty sandwiches, scones, whipped cream, jelly, and my favorite: vanilla bean black tea.
Kingston Mines: found this really cool Blues joint, had two live bands playing back to back, had booze, and out of this world succulant ribs.
Millenium Park: ice skating, ha I held to the railing the whole time, and I still fell!

Yet what makes Chicago such a wonderful city, isn't its attractions or landmarks it has to be the people. Unlike San Diego where everyone is only interested in having absolutely nothing to do with you, and avoid all human contact, Chicagoanians are extremely friendly and are genuine. Absolutely refreshing and just wonderful to know that there are people out there who aren't too wrapped up in their own bull shit and have the time to help you out or simply say hello.

I love Chicago

P.S. did I mention I got to wear my new puffy goose down vest? oh well I did and I looked soooo cute. biggrin biggrin biggrin
