Categories... We use them to put labels on everyone and everything. That is how we make sense of things right? But do we really know any truth? I have been pondering on this for about a month... and it just eats at me how everyone around me tries so hard to define themselves in such a way that makes them feel important. Why is it that someone who listens to all of the rap business can not be the same person who listens to classical music? Why must we limit ourselves to one category? It is really upsetting to see a human being deny the pleasure of experiencing the only truths available to them...

So how interesting is it that people who see me on the street would most likely expect that I listen to hip hop music, keep up with all of the reality shows, and drink excessively every weekend? Yeah... I am a blonde in my twenties.whatever I find It hilarious how alarming it is when a blonde or any remotely attractive woman can expresses intelligence. Come on people open your minds a bit. Do we really know where our interests are coming from or are we trying to fit some image implanted by mass media? Sometimes I feel like I am living in a compost of rotting minds and then other days I just feel neutral and unaware. I really do love meeting new PEOPLE not robots... Lame... I am really not anything I guess, Just an attractive, objectified ball of organic matter with unlimited curiosity smile

My fourteen year old sister (who is a genius I might add kiss ) wrote this poem recently. It probably wouldn't make sense to the average reader but I can see why she wrote it.

Tightly packed
I feel claustrophobic
The only way from the cold
Slowing down
I feel numb
This is why I am so solid
There is only one explanation as to why I am changing
That is just something I can not control
My friends are leaving and rearranging
Life is so incorrigible
I am a molecule
Then an inanimate particle
Melted down I feel so free
We are spreading out disorderly
Speeding up
It is a race
Although my friends are at my pace
Evaporation I feel alone
We can not go forward but only back
The only way is to cool and contract
It is just your air that I feel everywhere
A gas that just floats as you breathe

Is she just regurgitating words from science class or is she trying to say something important?shocked

I think that instead of building a stereotype for myself I'll just associate my characteristics with an animal and say that I act on pure instinct. The other day my friend Shannon told me that if I were an animal, I would be a snake or some type of reptile! ha I guess I see a correlation??

OK, so I many not be an attractive blonde but I have also been victimized by being stereotyped. When you do something that is not expected, whether positive or negative, outside of the pigeon hole you have been plugged into it can freak some people out. Its always funny to hear neighbors of a serial killer saying that the person was so nice and never acted like a killer, this is because we all have a preconceived notion of what a killer should look and act like. Of course my idea and yours may be way different based on our different experiences during our lives.

Meeting someone who can form an interesting thought is always nice and even better is when you can listen to them without wanting to puke or shoot yourself. I try to give everyone a chance but it is not always easy to get through my own inhibitions and preconceived notions and to put the time and energy into finding out who the "real person" is you are talking to. Of course there are some people I don't even care to know, who I will just stereotype and be done with. Is that fair? Am I possible missing out on someone great?

I think I would be a Mountain Lion; silent, in the background watching but always on guard. smile
