I am really sorry to talk about something that is depressing, but I just really have to.
The oil spill, that happened in the Gulf of Mexico, has been causing alot of problems and issues for the south and south eastern areas of North America. I can only say what is happening here in South Louisiana. I am not sure what is happening to Mississippi, Texas, Flordia, and Mexico.
The seafood industry has come to a complete hault, oil drilling has stopped, offshore and boat companies have laid off 30% to 40% of thier workers, Grand Isle has been completely evacuated, the economy is failing, small businesses are closing down, people are losing everything, but the worse part is the damage it is doing to the swamps and sea life. Huge sea turtles are bing found dead on beaches, the Manatees are trapped by the spill, the sea life is starting to fail, and that is not to mention the land and the animals that live on the land.
If one storm comes through here it will spread even further to inhabited areas. They are trying to stop the oil from pouring out, but as far as I know they have not succeeded.
It will take years to fix what has happened; for the life to return to the swamps. This is what is happening now, soon people will move out of the areas effected, more businesses will start to close with out the people and economy to support them. It is just really bad for the sea life, the animals, plants, swamps, and people who live in this area...
There is a whole lot more happening and alot more reasons why this happened, but I have ranted enough on this. It is just really depressing and bad off here right now. They are trying to help, but they can not give the animals and people a secure way or place to live, they can not transport all the animals, plants, and sea life, nor can they give people thier lifelyhood, thier jobs, homes, and lives back.
I did not mean to depress anyone if I did... I just wanted to rant abit... I really do love sea turtles and the manatees. They are just so full of wonderment... Everyone is trying to do something to help clean up the oil spill, but it is the biggest one in our known history so far... I wish I had pictures, but even I can not get pictures even with all the people I know... Sorry...
