Well well well, it looks as if I might have a job soon with Cleveland Tenants Organization, through Americorps VISTA program. My state representative put me onto the job, having been its director before becoming a state rep. If I get the job, I get to go to Chicago for three days for training. The only time I've been to The Windy City was in 2001, and then only the airport on a layover. So spending three days there should allow me to explore the city a bit.
On the downside, I busted up a toe on my right foot, and it appears to have changed to a really ugly purplish stain where it was bleeding internally. Thing is, it didn't do that until today. I know, because when I put my socks and shoes on this morning it was normal-colored. Fucked up, huh? I probably shouldn't have done so much walking today, but I was doing canvassing for my state rep. seeing as how it's going into crunch time (last month before the election November 7). Nothing's broken; if it were, the toe would be swelled up like a balloon and hurting like a son of a bitch. But it only hurts if I put pressure on it, or try to put a sock on.
Well, enough about my toe. Back to the potential job. The pay would be something like $800 or $900 per month, which would be a fair sight more than what I was making at my last steady job. It would only last, however, a maximum of two years because it's through an Americorps VISTA program. So I couldn't make a career out of this. But it'll put some money in my pocket for a while, until I can find something more permanent.
