I went to see the Cleveland Indians declaw the Detroit Tigers last night. Naturally the asshole Tigers fans had to start the game off talking shit, and guess where my seat was located? If you guessed one row in front of the asshole Tigers fans, you guessed right. It didn't help that the Indians started off weak. They let Detroit score two runs in the first couple of innings, but then they came back and tied the score in the third at 2-2. Detroit scored another three runs, but the Tribe came from behind to finish the game 8-5. Overall it was a decent game, at least the home team won, but I think both teams could have played a lot better than they did.
I ended up yelling myself hoarse, which isn't good because over the past couple of years every time I go to a game or a bar where the noise level is such I have to yell to make myself heard, I go all hoarse. And the more I talk afterward, the longer it takes for my voice to recover. I guess I'm just getting older. My councilwoman has the same problem, only she's talked herself hoarse (a condition which may be permanent if she doesn't ease up) going door to door and speaking to people constantly. I have to admire her determination and drive, though.
I was trying to do some phone banking for Ted Strickland this evening. He's running for governor of Ohio, and I've done phone banking before but tonight was not a good one to try that after last night. My voice started going out on me so I had to leave early. I'm scheduled to go back Tuesday afternoon to try again, hopefully the rest will do my vocal chords good enough to be able to do it.
