This week I received a call from HR at the county Board of Commissioners about the application I put in. On the 17th (next Wednesday) I go in for testing and filling out paperwork.
The paperwork I understand, the testing...well, I understand where they're coming from but I'm not sure if I agree with it or not. I mean, yeah I suppose wanting people who can type at a reasonable pace are more desirzble than others. But seriously, in an area where people are hurting for work and for an entry level job such as what I'm applying for, it sucks because it's basically a way of eliminating "undesirables". Which, in this case, would be anyone without a college degree or whose work experience has been limited to minimum wage jobs.
But, I like to think I will pass whatever test they throw at me. I take this one for the county the day before my birthday, and it would be a splendid birthday present to pass and get an interview, and finally the job itself.
