Dream last night:

I was talking with a woman, in line somewhere, maybe at a restaurant waiting for either food (lunch-counter-style) or tables. We were passing acquaintances but not friends. She said something like, "So you're Goth, right? I've been wanting to ask you about that." She was a bit suspicious and curious, obviously had "Satan-worshipping disturbed child" ideas about the whole thing. I said to her, "If i had to sum the goth outlook up in one sentence, it would be 'Life Is Beauty.' If i had to sum goth up in one word, it would be 'Beauty.'" I explained my outlook, that goths see life as art; they dress the way they do because they find it beautiful and they believe that there is no reason to leave beauty for later, when you can express it in all aspects of one's life.

Not a terribly original thought, i know, and i also know it ONLY describes *my* outlook on what goth means--LOTS of goths would probably laugh at me if they heard that opinion (especially the mansonites). Nonetheless, it's my philosophy about my life, and one of the reasons i feel i've happily found my home in the Dark Community.
