today is one of those days where i feel oh so dull - not necessarily boring, but literally without edges ... not sharp. this morning i poked my neck and stomach with pointy scissors in an act of sensation seeking. *pokepoke* it was pleasant, but not exactly rousing. even my dear chum green tea only produced a mild lift. this whole relocation thing is more draining than i remember.

perhaps the plain walls are getting to me. white walls are my favorite, but i attack them with all kinds of photos, tear out pictures, scribbled writings, old candle wax drippings, and other stuff & nonesense. now, with everything down and most of it trashed (karma cleansing), the pallor stares at me like a demanding void. perhaps i hurt the room's feelings. oi, imagine how purely pissed she will be when someone new moves in.

to be utterly frank, i've basically gotten horizontal (or rather, 90 degree angle) with this room. let's just say that when i *ahem* enjoy quality time with my jungle cat i tend to be a bit ... oceanic. so the walls have been the recipient of more than one flood. in my wonked out world that makes us intimates. rooms are living spaces with energy after all. now mind, i don't think it is a conscious space like a sentient being, but there is something alive about any place that houses humans. this apartment has grrrreat numerology ... safe, creative, nuturing. however, a betrayal happened when my roommate moved in (her then friend), and i think it affected the original energy. to me it has always had this tension between comfort and unspoken secrets.

apartment dwelling makes you part of a spatial sort of human history. we are moving into a newer place, but still there was a previous resident. i guess i'll burn some sage to neutralize a bit, but whatever happened in the rooms will always sort of exist there, you know? in fact, we are going over to drop a few things today because we saw a different version of what we are getting and i want to "feel" the place. its kind of a yuppified community, so i don't anticipate alot of active energy, but one never knows.

this is also the reason i rarely buy vintage - the old owners leftover humanity - but that is another entry for another time. now i must pack my budding nightmare before xmas snow globe collection for travel.

be well! kiss

What an amazing entry! I too believe that space takes on the lingering vibrations of the spirits that occupied it. Cleansing and blessing space is an essential part of my new year's rituals. This year, I hope to purchase some space of my very own, but I'm also scared of all that will entail. How a space feels will be a major factor in my decision. Your words are so beautiful.

Samosas are the best!! There is a tea shop that I sometimes frequent that makes the most amazing samosas. I'm going to learn to make them this year, as I have found a recipe from Madhur Jaffery, which I can't wait to try! (Told you I was a foodie. I read cookbooks like other people devour fiction. Teehee!)

I do love the fae and all the nature spirits, but they are dangerous to call on, so I just admire them from a distance. The words are the Brahma Gayatri mantra. To hear it sung is pure bliss. Basically, it translates as:

We meditate on the transcendental glory of the Deity Supreme, who is inside the heart of the earth, inside the life of the sky, and inside the soul of Heaven. May He stimulate and illumine our minds.

Hope that you have a bright and blessed new year.

PS- Could I join your friends list?
