1. I'm been half-heartedly watching Compass, an alleged 'informative' show, that mainly centres around taking any current basic issue (e.g. tonights special, Bush, Islam and Terrorism) and making it a big excuse to delve into the history of Christendom. Convenient for an ubiased show eh.

Here is a brief synopsis

Terrorism today is all the fault of the Christian church circa The Crusades, coupled with Bush-style rhetoric.

Uhhh? Biased much? How about a little balance (as Dara O'Briainmight say).

Feel like a really good read on the realities of Islam as experienced by one person? And how about a person reared in the Islamic world? Don't you think they might have a little tiny bit more insight on the matter than a flabby white Christian professor who has never ventured past his University gates? Someone who suffered female genital mutilation, and actually spent a good deal of their life underneath an abeya? Who doesn't profes to know everything, but is merely recounting their experiences? Who experienced refugee camps? Who lived through and witnessed things I never thought humans were capable of?

Hirsi Ali doesn't blame Islam. She blames people, their culture and their interpretation of Islam. The key word here is interpretation. She doesn't have a problem with Islam per se.

In this debate she advocates for a liberal interpretation of Islamic doctrine.

In her book Hiris Ali doesn't "blame" any of the "things that happened to her" on Islam or anyone. She simply states what happened to her and what she witnessed.

Well, I guess she left a different impression on me during her appearances here on Dutch media.

And is it interpretation, or manipulation that is the real source of the problems? My vote goes to the latter. Valid for all religion, not just Islam.
