Hello, SG land -

It's been... well, not a long time, I guess.

But apparently long enough that no one noticed, if that makes any sense.

The situation with my buddies' brain which I mentioned in my previous post... well, I thought I could help him come to terms with his impending demise and maybe steer him in the general direction of some kind of Inner Peace. Perhaps in the process I could find some semblance of Peace for myself (does that sound self-serving?).

I failed.

Although his cancer is by all accounts terminal, he believes the tumor in his brain was removed. The surgery he had was a stop-gap and he was aware of this going in. After he came out of it he concocted a delusion whereby he was now "cured". And to further complicate matters, his parents asked his friends not to tell him the truth.

I assume the reasoning is that they think he'll fade without any prerequisite drama. Frankly, I don't see how that's a better plan than what I had. Ultimately, I think I would have been able to teach my friend how to free himself from the Wheel of Life and Death. Instead, he lives in a world of denial and I'm powerless to do anything but play along.
