So, a friend informed me he was thinking about going into politics.

I love my friend. But he's a moron. In a effort to dissuade him, I reminded him about the time we dropped acid at the lake and accidentally set our camp on fire, which then led to the lake itself catching fire. He said something about the past being the past. The wholesale rejection of the past as past bespeaks the marketing mentality: the assumption today is necessarily better than yesterday.
