I read that men with depression experience a decline in REM sleep and seldom dream.
I have no shortage of dreams lately, so I guess I'm doing OK.
Graveyards, flashfloods, reunions with lost friends, and... capybarus (rodents of unusual size) figure prominently. Death, disaster and embarassing moments are a constant, this may have some correlation to the science of hot sauce.
The other day I went to the city to see "Children of Men". I found it very moving. There were some people in the audience who seemed to be amused by the depictions of civil strife and carnage and laughed out loud at scenes that were not at all funny. Curious, this behavior. When it was over, I sat through the credits, kind of dumbstruck by what I just saw. There were kids lingering in the back rows, whooping and hollering. I have doubts about the future. Something's gotta give.
This morning I smoked a cigar and downed a large glass of whisky.
If I work up to it, I'll be dancing in the ruins by sundown.
I'm part of the problem.
