i got hacked, again.

i have Network Ice from ISS and when I got home it was off.

"hmm.. that's funny," i sez.

so i try and load it up. it loads, and then appears, and then disappears.

"weird."

so i Ctrl-Alt-Delete and theres at least 3 processes running, including mIRC and DirectX.exe, that i don't think are normal. Theres a directory in my C:/ called 6p (which I know isn't supposed to be there) and a bunch of *.exe in the WinNT/System32 folder that don't look quite right.

Hmm.."i don't remember installing mIRC."

that's because i didn't. somehow they got past my BlackIce and killed it. And installed this huge script thing that runs mIRC in the background. I really don't know any of this stuff, but I've spent the last four hours trying to clear it all out.

Is anyone familiar with this stuff? Is there anything else I should be looking for?

Is Win2K particularly hackable? I don't remember having these kinds of problems with ME. Of course, ME used to crash at least 3 times a day. I think I've crashed Win2K 3 times total. In the last 2 months.

I should be working on a paper. I've got to go work on a paper.
