tonight i went to see rasputina at the great american music hall in s.f.
oh my lord. i love rasputina. i am such a cello whore. i am also a makeup whore, so guess what i wore to the show? neon pink blush. new favorite thing...

the thing about watching a cello band is that the musicians can't really move around all that much. the cello is a stationary instrument for the most part. there's a local string duo (violin and cello, they're brothers, how cute) where the cellists plays standing up and kinda hunched over, and it just looks rediculous. rasputina has taken this into account and as a result, they're live shows are always very visually stimulating. i.e. they wear awesome costumes that include corsets, petticoats, flowers, fruit, dead animals, layers of colored tule,hoopskirts, bussels, stockings, feathers, costume jewelry, etc. so dressing up for the show is basically mandatory.

my inspiration tonight was "victorian doll."
