It's interesting to hear everyone else's comments on my situation.
Well, I talked to him. Briefly. He called me back and I was at work, slinging sushi, but I answered the phone and my hands were shaking. It was awkward...bad connection (two cellphones) and I just wanted to hear everything about him, what he's been doing...I'm supposed to call him back later this week when he's not in the car.
He's been at home (South Carolina, where my parents are, where I'll be for a little while in Sept.). I am now nervous as hell for my trip.
Then I couldn't function for about an hour. Rang up stuff on the wrong check, hit No Make when things needed making...luckily I didn't screw up anyone's dinner too badly.
Then I went out with my friend Holly. I'm really starting to realize that a lot of my friends should not be allowed to drink without a leash. I like to drink. I like having a beer, or whiskey, or whatever, but I don't like to get stumbling shitfaced stupid. I feel like I did that for four years living in New Orleans and I left New Orleans to get away from a city full of hardcore drinkers. But yet I manage to find the ones that are here. And when I offer to drive because I'm too broke to drink much, she gets shitfaced and then wants to get in fights. I've never met a girl who has that reaction before, just guys. And then she wants to drive home, and we end up having a screaming fight in my car because she says her dad will kill her if she doesn't bring the car home. I think her dad will be a lot more upset if she gets in a wreck and kills herself.
She ended up getting out of my car and walking to hers. I couldn't stop her. What the hell is one supposed to do in that situation?

And, yeah, absolutely, compromises are fine, but they should be the right ones and for the right reasons, and you really don't NEED to. Sounds like you're doing pretty good with it right now.
