For a few days after getting home I was freaked by the workload I had waiting for me. Two weeks off from the shop and nothing is organized. Piles of CDs and movies to review (I know, I'm whining), and Mr. ohJAYfloe asking me if I'm going to write any more comic reviews. It nearly gave me a panic attack, and I don't get panic attacks.

But a few days in and I'm on a fucking roll. I've taken on some copy-editing work at KB for the resume-building and because it personally annoys the ever-loving shit out of me when things are misspelled. I've rolled through all the CDs, and I'm working on questions for Nashville Pussy. Right now I'm watching the Lucero movie (and rekindling my crush on Ben--that accent just kills me) and realizing that something Donna (the lovely and amazing road manager--buy her a beer if you go to one of their shows) said is so true, that this band makes me remember why I got into this business in the first place: because I love the music, I love the people who make the music, and when I stop loving it, it'll be time for me to quit.

Shannon keeps asking me if I want to go out, do this, do that, and I keep saying no, and only part of it is my limited patience for drunken idiocy. Part of it is that I genuinely LIKE having all this stuff to do. When I polished off three record reviews the other night, I started working on my creative stuff. Work for me breeds more work.

And all of this is what's made me realize that I should be in business for myself. Because I will work my ass off for ME.

I also realized while watching the Lucero movie that I prefer pretty boys who don't work at it. I know this is awful of me, and not particularly fair because I retain all rights to pluck, primp, paint and dress, but the sexiest thing about Ben (besides his voice) is that he's almost too pretty for words but he will let his beard grow, chop his hair in weird shapes or just leave it a mess, wear the same thing all the time, and it doesn't matter what he does, he's still delicious. Used to drive me crazy when a certain person would take forever to get ready to go out--he's gorgeous! He doesn't need the work!--but to be fair, I did appreciate the work that had gone into that body.

So now I have a plan for Halloween night. I just need a costume. You people are good at telling me what to do. Tell me what to be for Halloween!

Do you really have Gerber?!? Youre a Canes fan? I'm jealous, I want him back. He is doing very well, which is exactly what I knew would happen if he got to be a starter.
