I feel so much safer on the streets knowing that Tommy Chong is locked up behind bars.

You know how you go through life hanging out with people, a good portion of which you would call friends, and you work things out with them regularly for mutual benefit? For instance, if you both want to go out, you can both come up with a plan, and your forces combined will make a good time happen out amongst the other people looking for the same. If at one point someone's waiting for their next check and the other person is doing alright, the latter will pay for the night, knowing that the favor will be repaid when said check comes.

Now despite all of this, every now and then you get a little feeling in the pit of your stomach.

"can i really trust them?"

"do they really look to hang out with me, or is there just nothing else to do on this particular night?"

"am i appreciated?"

etc.

some people even go so far as to do tests, like stopping calling people for a specified period of time to see who is their "real friend" by calling during said time period.

some people.

but you never really know, because that all just comes down to chance and happenstance anyway. for the most part, you just have to push it out of your head because you really don't want the kind of situation that would test it anyway.

well, i just had one.

there was a throwdown. the other person was psychotically ranting around, spinning tales, threatening people, screaming, crying (note: all of which also being done elsewhere on here). I just watched. whenever there was an outburst, i offered to help. at one point it got so bad that i offered to call the police to have them removed.

during all of this, i found out that people really do use logic. people know that given an elaborate conspiracy theory with lots of twists that aren't well thought out, or the simple truth, occam's razor will out. or perhaps people are just developing drama magnet sensors. or those two could be the same thing.

either way, i found out that i do have friends. friends that are willing to recognize when i'm in an extremely uncomfortable situation and lighten the mood, take me away from it.

thanks, guys.

Okay, that plus Tommy Chong, I'm officially depressed. wink But then, I keep a very loose leash/tie/whatever to friends. I do that with everyone though, I don't exactly want to leashed either. It's definitely good to know that you've got someone who can help take you away, that's a great place to be.

Man, the more you talk about those bacon twists, the more I'm starting to crave them. biggrin
