i used to have night terrors which is really just your brains way as a child of letting things out that it can no longer deal with and they only leave when you have made peace with the chaos. i was in grade 4 when they stopped and was a proud little duck. it was also when i started fighting back.
now i have dreams of zombies multiple times a month, and they are so very real the first 5 seconds or so of head off the floor is a fight or flight instinct, once punching out a kid next to me.
my dad used to wake up like that every single time. throwing punches. i learned to throw socks at him from a distance. i wonder if he is still the same.
