Today, I took the little boy I nanny to to McDonalds, where he could play in the PlayPlace away from the cold and fog. On the way there, his mom called and told me I could buy him a Happy Meal, and she'd reimburse me. I had no cash, but MickeyD's accepts ATM cards at the register now, so no biggie. So I get up there, order the Happy Meal and a small soda for me. I swipe my card, and input my PIN. It's not accepted. I get the "Bad PIN" error 3 times. Apparently my new card, while activated, was not activated with my PIN. No problem, I'll just cancel my order, whatever. I'm about to do that, when the cute guy behind the register pulls a $5 outta his pocket and pays my tab. That made my fucking day. What a nice guy. I mean, he works at McDs, the odds that he's rolling in it are not pretty high. I promised to be back on Wednesday (the next time he works) to pay him back. And I'll pay him back double. That was so nice. And if he wants my number, he's welcome to it. blush

After work, I had to go dispute a parking ticket my car had received back in May while my car was stolen. Yes, it has taken this long for me to even have the opportunity to talk to a live person about it. I realized while sitting in traffic on my way downtown that by leaving work 2 and a half hours early, I was out the EXACT amount of my ticket (Fine=$35=2.5x14). That's before taxes, of course. Not to mention the principle of the thing. whatever I was at DPT (Department of Parking and Transportation) for almost an hour. Embarrassingly enough, a half hour of that was spent in the wrong line. Finely I get up to talk to somebody, get scheduled for a "Citation Hearing," which takes place immediately. The woman explains the process to me, and then spends a good five minutes staring at the police report that details the loss and recovery of my car (really, it's not that confusing). All this time, I'm watching the clock as the time on my parking meter expires. She acknowledges that the citation is not valid, and then goes to make copies of the paperwork. I'm on the edge of my seat, ready to run out of there. Getting a parking ticket while parked outside of DPT while disputing a parking ticket would just be more irony than I could handle. I thank her as politely as possible and jam outta there and jay-run across the street to my car. Mercifully, my car is ticket free. biggrin
