I hath returned. If anyone still visits me. 
We're still in the process of moving, and, amazingly enough, the computers were among the last to come over (the DSL here just got turned on 2 days ago). Things are still getting set up around here. We don't have a bed yet, due to some issues with the in-laws, who may or may not be buying us one. They've said they can go shopping with us the Saturday after next, which means another week and a half of us sleeping on the floor, and I'm not okay with that. And we do still have to do the dreaded cleaning of the old place. And I have the worst feeling that my roommate left the state w/o doing her part of the cleaning. And if that's the case, I'll be damned if I return all of her cleaning deposit. Because I know that I'm gonna have to put in a lot of man hours to get that place into shape, hours she should be sharing with me.
But for now, I'm off. To get a root canal. My second in as many weeks. And I'm phobic of the dentist.
Updated to add that the root canal hurt, but nitrous makes me not scared.
And my roommate left the house a disaster. Didn't clean a thing, left her pajamas in the bathroom, and even left a rotting salad in the fridge!!

and as for your ex-roomate... when she asks for her deposit back send her a rotting salad and her old pajamas and tell her if she had of worked on her part she would have gotten her half of the deposit back. i hope you got pictures of how she left it so you can send copies of those, too. that way you have prook of what you did and what she didn't. i'm hoping to move sometime in the next month or so. i just don't know where. i just need to find a place that either A) pays all the utilities or B) is all electric. i had a scary mishap with a gas furnace andi don't trustthem anymore.
